A Bit About Me

Hello and welcome to Dreaming Tree Counseling! I am so very glad you are here! My name is Brooke and my pronouns are she/her/hers. I am a fully licensed clinical social worker (LMSW/LCSW) in the states of Michigan, Massachusetts, and Tennessee. I have been a therapist for the past ten years and have owned my own practice,  Dreaming Tree Counseling, since 2020.

As your therapist, I’ll meet you wherever you’re at on your journey of healing. I  welcome all parts of you, even those you may feel most shamed or afraid of, to join us in the therapeutic space. Together we will greet those parts with curiosity and compassion. Our work together is led by you, as the expert of your own experience, and me as the guide - helping you move towards a more loving and compassionate view of yourself.

As your therapist, I do not believe it is my job to give advice or have an agenda. I operate from the perspective that everything you need to heal is already inside of you. Sometimes you might just need a little guidance getting there.

Dreaming Tree Counseling

Throughout my career as a therapist, I have worked intimately with the Family Court system, Community Mental Health (including on-call crisis intervention), rural school systems in low-income communities, and private practice.

Regardless of the setting I was working in, unresolved trauma kept proving to be the source of the pain and suffering I was seeing in my clients day to day. I quickly learned that it is not enough to treat the symptoms clearly seen on the surface when the body and mind do not feel a sense of safety and/or belonging. I felt that my clients deserved more - an opportunity for the kind of deep healing that brings true transformation. So, that is what I set out to do.

I have since gone on to pursue specialized training in various trauma treatment modalities including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Attachment-Focused EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Trauma Informed Stabilization Treatment (TIST), Ego-State therapy, mindfulness, and somatic body work.
